The 17th Annual FirstStage One-Act Contest.
The Finals Night for the annual One Act Contest was held on Monday, December 18th, at the Actors Art Theatre in Los Angeles. The three Finalists were given staged readings in front of our distinguished judges. These final plays were chosen as our winners:
First place: THE PLUMBER PLAY by Nancy Cooper Frank
Second Place: TEMPLES by Jeffrey Baker
Third Place: THE CAKE TOP FOLLIES by John M. Twomey
WRITERS' DIGEST Recognizes FELIX RACELIS
FirstStage playwright Felix Racelis' play Suicide Interruptus: A Wild Ride from Paramus to Dallas won tenth place in the Stage Play category in this year's Writers' Digest Annual Competition. For his win in the national contest, Felix receives a cash prize and congrats from everyone here at FirstStage. The complete list of winners will be published in the Nov/Dec 2013 issue of Writers' Digest.
This play was presented at FirstStage last year (working title then was Death 'N Texas) in a reading directed by Peggy Chane and featuring Marcie Ross and other FirstStageactors.

THE BELLE OF BELFAST
Nate Edelman's play THE BELLE OF BELFAST, produced last fall at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, Los Angeles, was nominated for Ovation Awards for the 2012-2013 season in 4 categories:
- Nate for best playwrighting for an original play;
- Ensemble Studio Theater for best production of a play;
- Best acting ensemble;
- Best featured actor (Billy Meleady as Father Behan).
